sam's birthday

today was sam's 13th birthday. his family and angela and her mom and i went out to dinner and then to sing some karaoke and cut a rug on the dance floor at the disco... yes i know, a 13 year old at the disco... but whatever. it was fun and i had a great night. i almost stole sam's thunder with his extended family, but he was pretty happy taking pictures and shoving cake in his mouth so i don't think it bothered him too much:)

sam's family... for some reason lots of chinese people dont smile in their photos... so while sam was cheesing, his parents looked pretty miserable in all the pics i took of them tonight... they finally loosened up- it took a LONG time for them to act silly and i just love this picture.

*and just a note for those who asked... sam's parents and angela's mom speak no english. sam doesn't really either. and my chinese is pretty shabby... tonight was full of body language and one word translations... angela did a bit of translating, but all in all, the evening transcended all language barriers...
